Description
MacGregor MACTEC NVG2 Tour Driver with Graphite Shaft
At the highest levels of golf, every shot has to be perfect. MacGregor engineered the MACTEC NVG2 Tour to perform like no other driver ever made - specifically for golfers with swing speeds of 100+ mph.
At the heart of it all is a TVC beta-titanium cup face with maximum rebound properties over a maximum hitting area, so every shot feels like you hit it dead-center. The NVG2 Tour also features a 15-3-3-3 beta-titanium crown insert, which allows extra weight to be distributed low and deep to the side, lowering CG 12% for very low spin and optimal launch properties.
Even the shaft is unique. The Speeder Quadra Action shaft combines MacGregor's Quadra Action shaft technology with Fujikura's famous Speeder technology. For players with more aggressive swings, the three bend point, four zone Quadra Action shaft adds clubhead speed for more distance, while Speeder's proprietary Triax material reduces vibration for more control.
As a result of the technology combination of Cup Face 360? and the Speeder Quadra Action shaft, the NVG2 Tour generates incomparably tight dispersion on off-center hits. MacGregor's exclusive Tri-Plane sole has been designed with polyurethane inserts to reduce vibration and dampen sound.
Cup Face 360?
No face welds - the entire face is the sweet spot. Every shot feels like dead center.
It may only be a few millimeters on the face, but hitting the ball off-center instead of direct-center usually means chipping instead of putting. Cup Face 360? technology makes the entire beta-titanium face a sweet spot. The 3-D plasma welding is completely off the face, enabling maximum rebound properties over a larger hitting area. It's a sweet spot that is 30% larger than normal insert technology. So every shot feels like you hit it dead center. And the edge of the face can put you a long way down the middle.
Beta-Titanium Crown Insert
Lowers CG dramatically. Very low spin. Optimal launch.
Alpha, alpha-beta and beta: Like the three grades of gasoline, there are three grades of titanium. Beta-titanium is high-octane supreme. MacGregor uses 15-3-3-3 beta-titanium to fashion an incredibly thin (.4mm) and light crown insert. This is 60% less mass than a standard titanium crown (1mm) and allows MacGregor to redistribute extra weight to the sole. This dramatically lowers the CG by 12% and helps achieve the ultimate in driver design: ultra-low spin combined with an optimal launch angle. Think long in the air and even longer once the ball lands. Yes, beta-titanium is expensive, but better materials always are.
Quadra Tungsten Weighting
Higher MOI. Less twisting. Greater accuracy.
Splitting long, narrow, overhanging-tree fairways is where golfers make their bones, which is why the NVG2 Tour is equipped with high-density tungsten. Four precision-placed weights keep unwanted rotation of the clubhead to a minimum. The 1.5 gram weights in the extreme heel and toe act as stabilizing forces to increase MOI, while 8 and 6 gram tungsten weights are precisely positioned in the sole to create a slight draw bias. Quadra tungsten weighting complements the power of the NVG2 Tour with an abundance of control - which is what you need when fairway is in short supply.
Silver-Nickel Brazing and 3-D Plasma Welding
Stronger, lighter bonds. Increased stability.
The NVG2 Tour derives maximum performance by using three different types of titanium. Using standard welding techniques to bond these different alloys would have added weight, thereby providing a weak link to this multi-material performance advantage. This is why MacGregor employs two highly modern and innovative bonding techniques: silver-nickel brazing, which joins the beta-titanium crown insert to the titanium body, and precision, state-of-the-art 3-D plasma welding, which joins the beta-titanium cup face to the titanium structure. Each process provides high-integrity, lightweight bonds to maximize the NVG2 Tour design advantage. When it comes to weak links, the NVG2 Tour can't have any.
Innovative Sole Plate Design
Reduced vibration and turf drag. Pleasing sound and more solid shots.
Imagination, inspiration and innovation have never been more evident than in the sole design of MacGregor's NVG2 Tour driver. Polyurethane sole inserts reduce vibration and dampen sound to create the solid acoustic that is so pleasing to accomplished golfers. The exclusive Tri-Plane sole, long a patented design asset of MacGregor's Tour-tested Bobby Grace putters, has been adapted for use in the NVG2 Tour driver. A slightly angled heel and toe produces a defined foundation at the center of the sole to promote clubhead stability at address. It reduces turf drag at ball impact for that pure joy when ball meets clubface at maximum possible swing speed. The reduced turf drag also makes it easier to hit the NVG2 Tour driver "off the deck" when called for. Truly a performance difference by design.
Speeder Quadra Action Shaft
Added stability and clubhead speed. Extraordinary distance and control.
MacGregor has combined their Quadra Action shaft technology with Fujikura's famous Speeder technology. The Quadra Action shaft is MacGregor's proprietary three bend point, four-zone shaft engineered to help golfers get added clubhead speed without swinging harder. During the downswing, the shaft loads, generates, stabilizes and releases increased energy at impact. Of course, more swing speed means more distance. Speeder's proprietary Triax material reduces shaft vibration for greater shot control. It's two great shaft technologies combined to take your driving distance and control to a whole new level.
